Schalling Holzkunst Seiffen

Since its foundation in 1904 by Emil Schalling, the Schalling company has been working creatively with wood. His great-grandson Matthias Schalling now runs the company.

In the first decades, wooden toys and doll furniture were manufactured. Later, arts and crafts items, such as angel chapels and Christmas pyramids, dominated the range.

Today, lovingly designed and painted figures and pyramids are created by the skilled hands of around 15 employees.

The handcrafted production in small batches guarantees the customer products with an individual character at a high quality level.

Schalling’s trademarks are the typical Erzgebirge figures Lichterbergmann & Lichterengel. Light was indispensable for miners underground. The miners’ longing for light was particularly strong at Christmas time. The miner and angel light bearers thus became symbolic figures of Christmas in the Ore Mountains.
